After an extremely challenging period for culture and education, Music Art Project (MAP) is delighted to announce the 4th national orchestral-choral music camp “Music of Hope” gathering children aged 12 to 16. Children from Bujanovac, Surdulica, Leskovac, Kraljevo and Belgrade will participate in the camp from 19-26 July.

This educational camp will take place in the premises of Lazar Savatić Elementary School in Zemun and at performances throughout Zemun, culminating on July 25 with a big closing concert in the Kolarac Music Hall at 11:30, with over 150 children, 20 MAP teachers and 4 international artists on stage: conductor and violinist Jose Angel Salazar Marina (Venezuela / Greece), hornist and expert in special music education through music games Francis Gagliardi (Venezuela / Greece), trumpet player Sergio Arrue Domingo (Spain) and percussionist from the Royal Conservatory in Madrid Manuel Perez Delgado (Spain). In addition to international and national lecturers who will work with children in specialized music workshops and rehearsals according to the innovative El Sistema method, surprise guests will also be there to sing and play music with us. Beside the instrumental, singing, choir and orchestral workshops and rehearsals, we tailored other artistic, ecological, musical and sports activities and games to increase cohesion of children from different parts of Serbia, unite and inspire them to think about the world, their environment, music, and art in a holistic way.

Putting each individual at the epicenter of the change one wants to achieve or see around him/ her, through a variety of content, pop-up performances across Zemun and, of course, inspiring music, MAP builds generations of new creative leaders who rely on own potentials and on each other.

Our concert repertoire, being prepared as we speak in all MAP centers across Serbia, will include classic pieces by Beethoven, Mussorgsky, Holst, Garcia, and Artes, as well as famous children’s, world and pop songs, so both performers and audience will have an unforgettable time together. We invite you to support us as good neighbors and colleagues and visit our activities and events from 19 to 25 July, from 10 am to 2 pm and from 4 pm to 7 pm and play and sing music with us at the concert on July 25 at 11 am in the Kolarac Music Hall, Studentski trg 5, in Belgrade.

Let’s protect our capital together and fill it with children’s laughter, music and hope this summer!

Sincerely yours,
MAP

More about the project: The music camp is part of the project “Tomorrow Starts Today”, implemented by MAP for the second year in a row in partnership with the NGO Praxis and funded by the EU Delegation in Serbia within the program “Support to Civil Society 2018”. By implementing innovative music activities based on the renowned inclusive El Sistema methodology, the project addresses social exclusion of children from marginalized communities, with the aim to uproot prejudice and discrimination at early age and create an open environment that nurtures diversity, while empowering children and youth to engage in development of policies that concern them and impact their lives.
